Our tools compute. They do not advise. This page explains exactly where that line sits, and what each category of tool can and cannot tell you.

Information, not advice

Every calculator, converter and generator on this site produces a result from a documented formula and the values you supply. That is all it does. It has no knowledge of your circumstances, no view on whether a decision is wise, and no professional qualification of any kind.

The distinction matters. "Your monthly instalment on these terms would be ₹10,379" is a computation. "You can afford this loan" is advice. We do the first and never the second.

No financial, investment or tax advice

Our finance tools (EMI, amortisation, SIP, compound interest, fixed deposit, GST, income tax helpers and the rest) do not constitute financial, investment, tax or accounting advice, and we are not authorised to provide any of those.

What they cannot know, and what will therefore make your real figures differ:

  • Fees. Processing charges, documentation fees, insurance bundled into the principal, prepayment penalties and broken-period interest all change the true cost and appear nowhere in a rate.
  • Your eligibility. The rate a lender advertises is not necessarily the rate you will be offered.
  • Tax rules. These change by jurisdiction and by year, and often mid-year. Our tools reflect the rules stated on each page at the time it was written.
  • Floating rates. A projection assumes today's rate holds for the full term. It will not.
  • Returns. Any investment projection is arithmetic on an assumed rate of return, not a forecast. Past performance does not indicate future results, and no calculator can change that.

Verify figures with the lender, provider or a licensed adviser before committing to anything.

No medical advice

Our health tools (BMI, BMR, TDEE, calorie and macro calculators, body fat estimates, pregnancy and wellness tools) are not medical devices, are not regulated as such, and cannot diagnose, treat, cure or prevent anything.

They implement standard population formulas. Population formulas describe averages, and you are not an average. Specifically:

  • BMI cannot distinguish muscle from fat, cannot see where fat is carried, and carries known biases by height, age and ancestry. We discuss this in detail in our article on BMI.
  • Calorie and BMR equations carry a realistic error bar of roughly ±15% once an activity multiplier is applied, and cannot account for thyroid function, medication, sleep or dieting history. See BMR and TDEE explained.
  • Nothing here is appropriate for children, for whom assessment uses age- and sex-specific percentile charts rather than adult thresholds.

If you are pregnant, have a medical condition, take medication, or are considering a substantial change to your diet or activity, speak to a doctor or registered dietitian. Do not delay seeking medical advice because of something a calculator on this site told you.

Any template, policy helper or compliance-related utility is illustrative only. Laws differ by jurisdiction and change over time. Nothing on this site creates a solicitor-client or attorney-client relationship, and none of it should be relied on for contracts, policies or regulatory compliance. Instruct qualified counsel.

Accuracy and its limits

We take formula correctness seriously. Each tool implements a published method, uses exact conversion factors where an exact definition exists, computes in full double precision, and rounds only for display. Every page shows a worked example generated by running the real tool code, so the demonstration cannot drift away from what the tool actually does.

Software still contains errors. Beyond outright bugs, these are the realistic sources of difference between our answer and another one:

  • Different conventions. Where more than one accepted method exists we pick one and name it on the page. Another calculator picking differently is not necessarily wrong. Mifflin-St Jeor against Harris-Benedict, reducing balance against flat rate, WCAG 2.x against APCA.
  • Rounding. We round at the end; some tools round at each step. Over many steps this compounds into a visible difference.
  • Floating-point arithmetic. JavaScript uses IEEE 754 doubles. Integers above 253 and some decimal fractions cannot be represented exactly. This is a property of binary floating point, not a bug in our code, but it does bound precision.
  • Extreme inputs. Values at the far edges of an accepted range are handled but rarely worth relying on.
  • Stale assumptions. Tax bands, statutory rates and published standards get revised. A page states the version it was built against.

Because everything runs on your device, very large files are bounded by your available memory and processor rather than by any quota we impose. A large PDF that works on a desktop may fail on an older phone.

Generated output is your responsibility

Some tools produce output you may go on to use for something consequential: passwords, tokens, hashes, QR codes, UUIDs, processed documents.

Our generators use your browser's cryptographic random source rather than Math.random(), which is the correct primitive. But we cannot guarantee the security of your device, your browser, any extension you have installed, or how you store what you generate. If you are protecting something valuable, verify the output independently and store it in a password manager rather than a text file.

Two specific warnings worth stating plainly:

  • Compressing a PDF does not redact it. Metadata, annotations, form values and content hidden under a black rectangle all survive. Drawing a box over text hides nothing from anyone who opens the file properly. This has caused real leaks in published court and government documents.
  • Downsampling is irreversible. Keep your original before compressing anything you may need at full quality.

Third-party content and advertising

This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense and links to external websites. We do not control, endorse or take responsibility for third-party content, products, privacy practices or terms. An advertisement appearing here is not a recommendation. Review any third party's own terms before dealing with them.

No warranty

The site and its tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, YoursTools and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, goodwill or other intangible losses, arising from or connected with your use of, or inability to use, this site or its tools, including any decision made on the basis of a result produced here.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Your responsibility

  1. Check your inputs. A number in the wrong unit passes validation and produces a confidently wrong answer. This is the single most common source of a "wrong" result.
  2. Verify anything consequential against a second source before acting on it.
  3. Read the method section on the page. It states which convention we used and what the tool assumes.
  4. Take professional advice for decisions with financial, medical or legal consequences.

Corrections

If you believe a formula is wrong, please tell us with the values you entered and the answer you expected. Formula errors go to the top of our list. When we fix one that produced genuinely wrong results, we record on the page what was wrong, when it changed, and what the correct method is, rather than quietly editing a number.
