Terms of Use

The rules for using this site. We have kept them short and written them in ordinary language, because terms nobody reads protect nobody.

1. Agreement

By using yourstools.com ("the Site") you agree to these terms, together with our privacy policy, cookie policy and disclaimer. If you do not agree with any of them, please stop using the Site.

You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. The Site is not directed at children under 13.

2. What we provide

The Site offers free browser-based calculators, converters, generators and file utilities. There is no account, no subscription and no usage limit.

We may add, change, or discontinue tools without notice. We may also take the Site offline for maintenance or permanently. Because there is nothing to sign up for and nothing stored on your behalf, this carries no risk to your data, but you should not build a critical business process around the continued availability of any particular page.

Some tools depend on browser capabilities such as the File API, Web Crypto, Canvas or WebAssembly. If your browser lacks one, that tool will not work, and there is nothing we can do about it from our side.

3. Acceptable use

You may use the Site and its results for personal, educational or commercial purposes, free of charge and without attribution.

You may not:

  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, or attack the Site, or probe it for vulnerabilities without permission.
  • Scrape the Site at a rate that degrades it for others, or in a way that ignores our robots.txt.
  • Republish our tool pages, articles or page layouts systematically, whether by copying or by automated means.
  • Frame or embed the Site on another domain so as to present it as your own. Our pages actively resist this.
  • Use our tools to commit or facilitate unlawful activity, including generating credentials for systems you are not authorised to access.
  • Present a calculator result as certified professional advice, or as having been validated by us for a particular purpose.
  • Interfere with advertising, including by generating artificial clicks or impressions. Our ad slots include automated click-fraud protection, and abuse simply gets the slot frozen.

4. Your data and inputs

You retain full responsibility for and full ownership of anything you enter into a tool.

Because processing happens in your browser, we never receive those values. One practical consequence deserves emphasis: we cannot recover them. If you close the tab, the inputs are gone, and there is no support request that will bring them back. Use the Copy Link button, which encodes the inputs in the URL, if you need to return to a calculation.

You are responsible for complying with any obligations that attach to data you process here, for example, if you merge PDFs containing personal data belonging to someone else, your own data-protection duties still apply, notwithstanding that the processing happened locally.

5. Intellectual property

What we own: the Site's design, branding, page layouts, written articles, explanatory text and the source code of our tools. These are protected by copyright and remain ours or our licensors'.

What you own: everything you put in, and everything that comes out. Results, generated passwords, converted files and processed documents are yours to use however you wish. We claim no rights over them and impose no licence conditions on them.

Third-party components: some tools use open-source libraries under their own licences, served from our domain rather than a CDN. Those licences govern the libraries themselves, not your use of our Site.

Formulas are not ours. The mathematical methods our tools implement are published standards and are not subject to any claim by us. Our implementation and our explanation of them are.

6. Advertising

The Site is funded by advertising, served by Google AdSense. Ad slots are labelled where practical and placed in fixed positions rather than injected into content.

Advertisement content is controlled by third parties. An ad appearing here is not an endorsement, and we are not responsible for advertisers' products, claims or practices. Ads may set cookies, as described in our cookie policy, and only after consent where consent is required.

We link to external sites: standards bodies, official documentation, opt-out mechanisms. Those sites are not under our control and we are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. A link is a pointer, not an endorsement.

8. No warranties

The Site is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, that every calculation will be free of error, or that it is fit for any particular purpose. Our full position on accuracy, and the specific things our tools cannot know, is set out in the disclaimer.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the Site or your reliance on any result produced by it, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential and special damages, and including decisions taken on the basis of a calculation.

Nothing here excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your misuse of the Site or your breach of these terms.

11. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. The "last updated" date changes when we do, and we will note material changes on the Site rather than making them quietly. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and the courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive venue. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-law provisions in your country of residence, nor of the right to bring proceedings there where local law grants it.

13. Severability

If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, that provision is severed and the remainder continues in full force.
