Comparisons

Alternatives to the tool sites you already use

Comparisons written the way we would want to read one: what the other site does better, where the free tier really stops, and when you should not use us at all.

What is worth comparing

Most comparisons between tool sites are feature checklists, and feature checklists are close to useless here because everyone has a merge tool and everyone has a JSON formatter. Four things actually differ.

  1. Where the work happens. Hosted services upload your file to a server and process it there. Browser-based tools ship the software to you and process it on your device. This decides whether uploading is a question you have to ask at all, and it decides what the service can offer: OCR needs a server, and no upload needs the absence of one.
  2. How the free tier is metered. Per day, per job, per file size, or not at all. This is what you will actually collide with, and it is usually buried.
  3. Coverage against depth. A site with 900 shallow tools and a site with 40 good ones both have their place. Look at the two or three tools you will really use.
  4. Whether the page tells you what it did. A converter that shows its result and a converter that explains the conversion are different products when the result surprises you.

The comparisons

Where YoursTools fits

Every one of the 880 tools here computes in your browser. There is no upload, no account and no server holding what you typed, which is why there is no task limit, no watermark and no paid tier. The site is funded by advertising.

That architecture is also the source of every gap we have, and they are worth stating in one place rather than making you find them:

  • No OCR. Reading text out of a scanned page needs processing we cannot do in a tab. If your PDF is a scan, use Smallpdf or iLovePDF.
  • No Office conversion. PDF to Word and Excel, and back, are absent.
  • No e-signature and no audit trail.
  • No accounts, so no saved history, no cloud storage, no team seats, no SSO, and no saving a snippet behind a shareable link.
  • No API and no apps. Nothing to call from a server, nothing to install.
  • Your device sets the ceiling. A file too large for the tab's memory will fail, and no plan exists to fix that.

What you get in exchange is that nothing is metered, nothing is uploaded, and the tool works the same on the first use as on the hundredth.

How these pages are written

Three rules, because comparison pages have a deserved reputation.

  • Every competitor claim is checked at the source and dated. Not taken from another comparison article, which is how a wrong price propagates across the internet for years.
  • Every page says what the other site does better. If we cannot find anything, the page does not get written.
  • Prices are described, not pinned, except where a figure is quoted with the date it was checked. A hard number in an evergreen page is a promise to go stale.

There is more on how the tools themselves are built and verified on the about page, and the reasoning behind running everything client-side in why we run everything in your browser.

Common questions

Are these comparisons impartial?

They are written by us about our own site, so no. What we can promise is that they are accurate: every competitor claim is checked against that vendor’s own pages and dated, and every comparison names the things the other site does better. If you find a claim that is wrong, tell us and we will correct it.

Why does every page list your weaknesses?

Because you are comparing, which means you will check. A page that pretends we have no gaps would fall apart the first time you looked, and it would waste your time on a tool that cannot do the job you came for.

What is the actual difference between YoursTools and most tool sites?

Everything computes in your browser. There is no upload, no account and no server holding what you typed, which is why there is no task limit and no paid tier. The cost is that anything needing heavy server-side processing, OCR and Office conversion in particular, is not on offer.

Is YoursTools free?

Yes, all 880 tools, with no sign-in and no paid tier. The site is funded by advertising.

Competitor features, limits and prices on this page were checked against each vendor's own site on 10 September 2026. Plans change: follow the links above to confirm current terms before you decide. If something here is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
